What is microfiber?
Microfibre is an ultrafine synthetic thread with a diameter of less than 1 denier (i.e. thinner than natural silk). To give you an idea:
-
a human hair has a diameter of 50–70 micrometers;
-
a microfiber fiber has in the middle 0.1 and 0.4 micrometers, i.e. 100 times thinner. [1]
Standard composition:
The production process it involves the extrusion of the fibers through a special head (spinneret), therefore splituire transforming them into “microfilaments”, hence the large contact surface and the ability to capture particles.
Advantages of microfiber products

Professional microfiber cleaning products have numerous advantages:
Superior cleaning without chemicals
Microfiber is one of the few textile technologies that allows this effective cleaning only with waterwithout compromising hygiene. This is possible thanks to the combination of:
-
electrostatic effectwhich attracts and retains fine particles of dust, hair and allergens;
-
microscopic capillary channelsformed by the splitting of the fibers, which extract dirt even from surface micro-cracks.
These properties make microfiber removable up to 99% of bacteriawithout the use of chemical disinfectants, which:
-
protect the health of cleaning staff;
-
it is essential in spaces with high hygiene standards – hospitals, dental practices, nurseries, professional kitchens.
Exceptional absorption
Thanks to the polyamide present in the structure, the microfibre has an absorption capacity of up to 7 times its own weight. In practice, a professional wipe can quickly absorb:
-
viscous liquids (sauces, oils);
-
water mixed with impurities (mud, urine, blood);
-
condensation or humidity on windows, mirrors, cold walls.
It is extremely effective in spaces with high humidity or heavy trafficfor example:
This absorption capacity reduces the risk of slipping and reduces intervention times in emergency cases (e.g. accidental spills).
Saving of resources (water and solutions)
A strategic advantage in using microfiber products is the saving of resources:
-
with just one damp cloth they can effectively clean up to 20 m2 smooth surface;
-
the need for aggressive detergents is reduced, sometimes even eliminated, in daily maintenance areas.
For companies with great cleaning crews or multiple locations (hotels, offices, clinics), the financial impact is significant:
-
less water consumed = lower utility costs;
-
less detergents and disinfectants = monthly savings + protection of staff health.
Furthermore, the impact on the environment is reduced by reducing the discharge of chemicals into sewer systems.
High durability
Quality microfiber cloths and cloths can be washed over and over again in industrial machines 300 timeswithout losing shape, absorbency or cleaning effectiveness.
Unlike cotton or other materials:
-
it doesn’t fall apart the margins;
-
I can’t smell it after several uses;
-
leaves no lint on shiny surfaces.
This advantage is ideal for cleaning companies or institutions with high washing flows (for example: hospitals, retail chains, shopping centers).
Non-abrasive, therefore protects surfaces
The texture of the microfiber fiber is soft but highly effective. It contains no hard particles and does not scratch, making it suitable for:
-
windows, mirrors and shiny tiles – without leaving a trace;
-
stainless steel – ideal for dispensers, HORECA tables, medical equipment;
-
touch screens, monitors or televisions – traceless deletion.
Reduction of working hours
Microfiber is designed to remove dirt in just a few passes. For example:
-
a microfibre cloth with system vertical press can clean a 100 m² corridor in less than 10 minutes;
-
a damp cloth can clean the reception area (desk, screen, polished furniture) in one pass.
When cleaning it is absolutely necessary to wear protective gloves. Discover here the importance of disposable gloves and where to use them!
Compatibility with professional equipment
Microfiber products are designed to work perfectly with:
-
mopuri plate reusable, with quick fixing system;
-
modular cleaning trolleyswith areas for dry and wet cloths and waste collection;
-
rubbish bins for selective collection – indispensable in a clean and organized workflow;
-
dispersion/distributors for cleaning or disinfectant solutions, with easy filling and consumption control;
-
toilet accessories (dispensers, holders, brushes): the microfiber helps clean them thoroughly without damaging them.
Most systems are compatible with color codingaccording to hygiene standards:
-
blue = furnishings and common areas;
-
red = health groups;
-
yellow = food zones;
-
green = medical areas.
Sustainable and environmentally friendly solution
Professional-grade microfiber is an investment in sustainability:
-
it takes more time compared to ordinary materials, so it is replaced less often;
-
consumes fewer resources: water, detergents, disposable materials;
-
does not remove visible fibers in waterunlike cheap synthetic cloths that generate microplastics.
